Brightlocker shutting down; owes developers and customers $$$ and games

  • 179

Four months ago I posted about things not seeming right at Brightlocker and now it emerges that the company has indeed gone under.

A bunch of developers are owed money. And as a customer I'm still owed a game I purchased with my remaining credits in January. The site said it would deliver my Steam key "within 72 hours", but nothing came, and so far my 2 emails to their perhaps now-nonexistent support department have gone unanswered for almost 2 months.

Developers are slowly pulling out of the platform. At least one game has had to cancel development for now because funding took place via Brightlocker and donors are now expected to potentially ask for their money back.

I have a friend who lost 400+ coins in unused credit. =(

They didn't even bother sending out an email to customers saying what will happen to their funds now that the company has gone bust. I suppose they are hoping no one will notice and that those with credits still in their accounts will conveniently forget about it.

I guess I'll never get the game I purchased now.

I also wonder if there are any employees left because their support department stopped answering tickets in December.

Yeah, I wonder if Cortez even paid the Brightlocker employees because the support department seems to have largely vanished since November last year!

Dang, good intuition in that regard. That's a shame, it seemed like it had potential. Pretty crappy of the owners to keep everything away from users

Aside from screwing paying customers, Brightlocker has also screwed developers. I wonder if they screwed staff too. I guess we now have to wait and see if people get their money back.

Probably didn't pay them either and it's terrible not getting paid for all the hard work they & others did.

I wonder how I could locate former Brightlocker staff and ask them...

Maybe post something on Brightlocker's social media.....
