New mod attempts to recreate Counter-Strike 1.6 in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

  • 201

Modder ‘Z00L’ has released the first beta version of his Counter-Strike 1.6 mod for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This mod will feature reworked maps, keep the improvements Counter-Strike:Global Offensive had over the years, and all that while keeping the nostalgia and feeling from Counter-Strike 1.6.

This mod aims to feature the balance from 1.6, while removing the bugs that were in 1.6 which were fixed in Counter-Strike:Global Offensive, keep the exact same maps as they were in Counter-Strike 1.6 and keep the improvements Counter-Strike:Global Offensive introduced.

Those interested can download the mod from here.

ZOOL has launched a poll and according to its results, this mod will evolve into a mod that is built around what CS:GO improved, keep the nostalgia factor and fix the balance issues WITHOUT the addition of new weapons, playermodels, sounds, skins. Instead, ZOOL will remake the maps that will have an art style similar to Counter-Strike 1.6.

Well this definitely looks amazing. Respect to Z00L, this had to be a big project for him! :)

I've completely exhausted all my enjoyment i have for counter strike as a whole, i have like 800 hours on 1.6 on steam and god know how much i had when i played the pirated version before ever knowing steam existed.

I've played like 120 hours on CSS and i liked that for a while, then i've played a little of CS GO and called it quits after that. But hey, watching CS GO pros play in eSports is still pretty nice.

Otherwise i'm really glad there are such talented modders out there.

They made a whole full expansion for free as a mod in binding of isaac antibirth, a complete extended rework of the entire game with XCOM Long War, a whole rework and an even harder version of Darkest Dungeon with the mod Pitch Black Dungeon (as if the game wasn't hard enough), tons of more comfortable HUD redesigns in PAYDAY 2, and not to mention literally everything about Skyrim, which it wouldn't be as popular today without the modding community, and tons and tons of other mods of games that my post wouldn't even fit if i would list everything.

I know how tedious modding a game is, and i hope they get encouraged more often from people that their modding makes the games a hella lot more entertaining for a lot of us.

I been playing CS since 1.6, it would be sweet to see this get picked up.
