Star Citizen from fans collected 141 million dollars, and it`s still in alpha stage

  • 217

Star Citizen simple just cannot stop attracting huge amounts of money, and currently now is the second most successful publicly funded project, a if we talk only about video games then it`s far away at the lead. Entering the 2017, Star Citizen developers so far have collected more than $ 141 million, the second most successful campaign of this kind is that one for Prison Architect who has collected $ 19 million or a budget for brunch in the framework of Star Citizen.

What is the difference between the two games is that the Prison Architect is completed and released, a Star Citizen does not intend to be for a long time as it seems. However, despite that is by developers still being under alpha stage it offers to the players a lot more than some complete games on the market, khm, khm ... No Man's Sky, so that's why they have such healthy player base. Creator Chris Roberts says he is satisfied with the achievements so far, but aims to even greater things in 2017.

This year game should finally get the first episode of singleplayer Squadron 42 module that was announced back in last fall, then delayed. In addition, in 2017 it is planned to insert procedural planet and a new platform for communication with the players and the many repairs and improvements as it worked so far. The ultimate goal is to get to Alpha 3.0 version, so if we know anything, it is that Star Citizen will certainly not come out complete this year.

I'm sure they will exceed Prison Architect soon. The completion of this game sounds like a myth though.

Interstellar

I'm just hoping incremental updates get implemented soon so one doesn't have to download 25+ GB every time a new version is released.

I'm not sure what exactly does author of this post wanted to say, comparing to some other unrelated games, not pointing out anything and then just ending it.

My thoughts exactly. I feel like it'll never be completed. Glad I haven't backed the project, I'll wait to see if it ever gets released or not.

Solar

Still looking forward to the game even when in Alpha but do have my doubts at the same time.
