Author of The Witcher books came down hard on the game and keeps saying mostly complete nonsense
Hold on, because this amount of nonsense is not recommended to consume at once. Writer of The Witcher books Andrzej Sapkowski spoke with portal Waypoint and casually said that his book popularized the game and not the other way around and that video games as a media cannot even tell a good story.
He claims that the games serve to another purpose of telling a good story and they just cannot have a sophisticated language that elevates cultural players. When CDPR made him an offer to make a game of his books, says he accepted the offer for the money and because he is not an idiot, but accuses developers actively trying to hide where they got the idea for the game.
At this he adds that the games are destroying his market and that is being follow only by children who do not know that the books occurred first. He also says that the books made the game popular because they were first popularized by his English translations. All of this is his opinion, but we can confirm that this statement is factually not true, because the translations into English came out after the first game.
Therefore, there is no problem with the fact that his book on the cover uses images from the game because it says that publishers are aware that some people only played games, but still claims that according to his assessment more people first read the book, and then got interested in games. It appears to us as if someone is injured that in the meantime has refused portion of the games sales that have crossed everyone's expectations.
