Halo Boss leaves studio to work on Microsoft Mixed Reality
Recently we talked about the plans that Microsoft has with its Mixed Reality team. This is a group led by Alex Kipman, technical director of devices such as Kinect and HoloLens, who revealed that the company works on experiences that mix real environments with virtual, an experiment that we will know more in E3 2017.
Thus, Ayoub will leave 343 Industries to be part of Mixed Reality, where he will aim for the “empowerment of education through technology.” Before leaving, the team dedicated a few words to him through Halo Waypoint.
“Although Dan will be staying in the Microsoft family, and won’t be heading too far, our 343 family will miss his wit, wisdom and effort throughout the years,” the studio said. “But Halo Wars 2 and its forthcoming DLC are in the safe hands of Dan’s team, with some wonderful DLC and other surprises still to come.”
“Over the years, Dan has helped us work with amazing studios and partners from literally every corner of the globe,” they continued. “They, like us are going to miss him, and Dan wanted us to express his thanks to both those partners, and to all the Halo fans and community who’ve been the fuel and fire that have ignited his passion and ambition, throughout the years.”
Prior to joining Microsoft, Ayoub worked as lead producer at Electronic Arts for 4 years, and then became a game director at Propaganda Games for 2 years. From there, he leapt to Bungie to work on Halo: Reach, where he stayed with the change of 343 Industries and collaborated in Halo: CE Anniversary, Halo 4, Halo 5: Guardians and the most recent franchise title, Halo Wars 2, Where he had the role of director.
So, Halo Wars 2, which debuted in February this year, will continue to receive content from the team led by Ayoub. 343 Industries has promised that more is yet to come.
