Thousands of gamers play a secret game Valve

Spacewar is a game in which thousands of gamers play every day. However, if you try to find it in the Steam store, you will not find it.

Spacewar - a remake of the classic video game from Valve with the same name. This is a minimalistic space shooter, where the ships are represented in the form of triangles flying around. Valve made its version of the game as a tool for developers, so that they could test the features of Steamworks, like Steam Workshop.

Technically, everyone can get Spacewar, but not through the standard Steam channels. Instead, enter "steam: // run / 480" on the Windows command line (Win + R). After that, a message will appear asking if you want to install Spacewar. And that's all.

Curiously, trying to join the match or lobby, there are very few options, but the tracking sites Githyp, Steam Charts and SteamDB indicate, referring to Steam data, that the daily peak is about 8000 players. Where are they all hiding?

We can assume that some of them are developers themselves, who do not spend time on the gameplay itself. Or, it's pirates. The fact is that Steam sees pirated games, but pirates can mask them with Spacewar, so in reality thousands of these gamers are not sitting in Spacewar at all, but in one of the other popular games.

Valve has not commented on the situation yet.
