More 'Overwatch Animated Shorts' are in the Works

Director Jeff Kaplan confirmed that more of the beloved shorts are being worked on during a press event in New York City last week, stating that the shorts are some of the most fun aspects of the project. “We really love working with our animation group and digging out the stories not tied to any constraints of gameplay — we can tell any stories we want,” said Kaplan. “We plan to tell more of those. We’re hard at work on more of those.”

According to Kaplan, the second “season” of these shorts is already being worked on, with season one technically ending with the award-winning short “The Last Bastion”. “We think of them as in seasons. That’s how we talk about them internally. So our first season started with ‘Recall’ and ended with ‘The Last Bastion,’” said Kaplan.

While a timetable or subjects for the next round of shorts wasn’t confirmed, Kaplan did make mention that Pharah is due for some more focus and that the animation team is “making good progress”.
