New patch for Hitman removed Denuvo from the game

  • 23

IO Interactive not only made Hitman's first location completely free without a time limit for all platforms, but also removed the protection from Denuvo pirates from the game. Although for obtaining Challenges still need online.

By the way, on all platforms the game will be sold at a discount of 66% until the end of this week, so if the first free level is like, do not pull with the solution.

I know some publishers are becoming more enlightened to the toxic anti-consumer garbage that is Denuvo but Square Enix? Seriously? They've pretty much been Denuvo's poster child since its inception. They must have paid literally millions to Denuvo Software Solutions GmbH.

If this is a sign that Square Enix (of all people!) are getting cold feet about Denuvo.... well, if I worked for Denuvo Software Solutions I'd be hastily updating my résumé and looking for a new job to be frank. I think SE are about all that's holding Denuvo together right now.

I hope Denuvo finally dies the death it deserves. I'm all for anti-piracy measures but not by bunch of highly shady convicted criminals. And yes, prior to the management buyout of Sony DADC DigitalWorks that created the new company "Denuvo Software Solutions GmbH, they were convicted of many acts of criminality; remember the Sony/BMG rootkit scandal? Yeah, that was just one of their many brilliant ideas that utterly broke the law and earned them criminal convictions all over the world. Yet major companies are still paying them big money for their software security services? What a goddamn joke. It's like paying the Mafia "protection money" - sure, it may work, but you're still implicitly a criminal for supporting and funding their ongoing criminality, even if it happens to be working in your favour.

Anyway, I could rant about this all day and nobody wants that, so I better sign off!

Cheers folks!
