Wolfenstein 2 Creative director: Games - the highest point of art

  • 21

Creative director of Machinegames studio Jen Matthies said that he considers video games to be the highest point of modern art. In a conversation with Metro GameCentral on E3 2017 developer Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus shared his thoughts on this topic.

I believe that video games are the highest point of all possible. This is the best thing in modern art. At the same time, all the potential has not yet been revealed in this sphere.

Matthies also said he would gladly have released four more games on the Wolfenstein franchise, subject to retiring at 65. He also said that he has a plan for the future and a clear understanding of what he will do in the next 10 years.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus in October on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

There is no money in my wallet, but the list of games to buy continues to grow :/

The game is unique, the story makes you think, as if you were watching a movie! I hope the new part will not let you down :) +1

With this kind of talk, I hope the game lives up to the hype!!!

It depends on the game i guess, but so does on other forms of art. I think it's been a while that the games are considered works of art from more and more people. And i'm all for it. Don't see how other creative works should have an advantage over our beloved games.

I believe that video games are the highest point of all possible.

I'd go further. I consider them the widest and longest.

Unfortunately all developers have to bow down to the market forces when creating their "art", so games usually end up more "products" than "pieces of art".
