Nvidia will not release a new generation of graphics cards this year

AMD launched its graphics card on Vega architecture yesterday, and after years of uncompetitive offerings, it offered a high-end alternative to Nvidia's 1000 series. According to the first tests, Vega 64 has decent, somewhere even better performance than the GTX 1080, but even though is the cheaper option, it still draws much more power than Nvidia`s solution.

Thus, Nvidia is not in a crisis situation to the market  as soon as possible launch the next series of cards based on Volta architecture. This was also confirmed by President Jensen Huang, who admitted that we should not expect new Nvidia graphics cards by the end of this year.

"All I can say is that our production line is filled with exciting new gaming toys, and we have really interesting new technologies that we will offer them. But, this holiday season Pascal cards are invincible. Currently they are the best products on the market. Anyone who plans to play Call of Duty or Destiny 2 will want to get a Pascal card if they do not already have it, " - Huang said.

The main reason why Nvidia is reluctant to announce Volta line of products is the price of production, or design of the same. Development costs are currently close to a thousand dollars per card, which is extremely expensive, and it is clear that Nvidia would not be celebrating when these cards had to be sold at similar prices.

For the time being, it is likely that we will see Volta cards in sales in the spring of 2018.

I just bought a 1060 and they're going to release volta in less than 1 year (spring 2018)? Such a terrible news (for me) :I

The 1060 is over a year old, I'm not sure what you expected. New graphics cards are being released every year. If you can hold off on buying a card, it's always better to wait for the latest tech.

They still release new cards too often for the average buyer to be able to keep up, so I don't see this as a relevant thing to most gamers.

I mean this is kinda good, new gen always costs more with little improvement usually.
