Nvidia announced BFGD format for large gaming screens
Screens of today's computer monitors are twice as wide in diameter than they were twenty years ago. But for those who play on PC screen size is not as important as the response time, the refresh rate, and technology such as G-Sync and FreeSync. These are compromises because of which one gaming monitor costs about as much as 4K TV, which apart from the bigger diagonal, also has support for HDR and other cool things like picture smoothing and similar.
There is nothing uncompromising between the gaming monitors and the luxurious TVs at the moment, but at the CES festival something like this was announced. Nvidia calls it BFGD screen format, or Big Format Gaming Display. It is here about an extremely capable devices that are not classic monitors or even televisions.
Screen diagonal moves from 65 inches and supports 4K resolution then HDR illumination, but unlike most of the classic TVs you can currently buy, the BFGD screens will have a picture refresh of 120Hz, which means they can display games in over 60 frames per second.
BFGD screens support G-Sync technology, 1ms response time and an integrated Nvidia Shield streamer that enables them access to services such as YouTube, Netflix, Amazon, HBO and so on.
Even though it is about devices that are intended for gaming, BFGD screens will have an embedded 24-Hz display setting, which means they will be enjoyable also for watching movies and other video content.
Of course, if you bought a monitor or 4K TV, you know that these benefits are not cheap, and it is expected to be even more expensive in this kind of conjunction. From Nvidia did not want to reveal what amount of money we should cash out for BFGD screens, but count it that they definitely will not be for every wallet. It is only known that these things in 2018 will be produced by Acer, Asus, and HP so that you can choose between different models with different stands.
