Book of the Dead game glorifies graphic capabilities of Unity Engine

  • 24

Unity Demo team wanted to display and test the video quality achieved with Unity in 2016 and then created two short films - "Adam", the Webby Award winner, and "The Blacksmith", inspired by the old Nordic mythology - in Unity Engine rendered in real time. Now, the same team seeks to demonstrate the capabilities of Unity 2018 through an interactive story from the first person called Book of the Dead.

Book of the Dead demonstrates what we can achieve by using the new Scriptable Render Pipeline of Unity 2018, which enables improved Unity rendering architecture adaptability by providing greater control to developers. Furthermore, all the natural environment shown in the demo version are photogrammetric scanned objects and textures from the real world. It should be noted that most of it was produced by Quixel Megascans, the world's largest online resource for scanning.

The game's surroundings are built in a way that allows the player to move and explore, and unlike the traditional video game camera in first person, Book of the Dead recording device is designed to have a movie atmosphere with inertia and weight. Height, speed and shadow reflect the emotional state of the protagonist and change as the player progresses through the story.

This game looks impressively amazing. Hope it comes to Steam and we have more news soon!

Это конечно круто, но Unity жутко неоптимизированный движок.
