The game about the Russian submarine Kursk wants to invent a genre of documentary adventure
Tragic events to the film industry are an excellent material for feature films and documentaries. In the case of a video game industry, things are fundamentally different because the fun mostly defies with motive of tragedy, so there are not many games made by real, tragic events. But, one such this year could be exploration adventure Kursk, made after the unlucky sinking of the same named Russian submarine.
Kursk as a game has been announced back in 2015, but the developer has only recently sounded about it. On the official blog they say it's time for videogames to start talking about real stories that can educate us and extend our horizons, and their goal is that Kursk become one such game. With that in mind, the developer says it will be the first documentary adventure in gaming history.
In the game we will take over the role of a spy, and we will visit the K-141 Kursk submarine to visit Moscow and Vidyayevo. We will play with a perspective from the first person, have the freedom to move, solve puzzles, and make decisions that will have a significant impact on the end of the story itself.
Kursk will run Unity engine, and developers claim that it will be one of the most beautiful games on that engine. It will have integrated VR support and 4K resolution, and for audio part of the game will take care Adam Skorup, the music composer of The Witcher series.
Kursk will start selling this year on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
