New incredible screenshots from Star Wars 1995 “Dark Forces” Level 1 fan remake in Unreal Engine 4

Jason Lewis, senior environment artist at Obsidian Entertainment, has shared some gorgeous new screenshots from his upcoming Star Wars 1995 “Dark Forces” Level 1 fan remake in Unreal Engine 4.

We don’t know whether Lewis will release this map/project to the public once it’s finished. Obsidian’s artist has shown an image with a weapon and has asked other artists to help him with animations. Lewis is also going to take a pass at setting up some scripting to make the door triggers and locks work properly as well as fixing some weird level streaming bugs I currently have. As such, and since this will be a full remake of the first level, we hope to actually play it.

In case you weren’t aware of, Star Wars: Dark Forces is a first-person shooter that came out in 1995. The game used the Jedi Engine, which was developed specifically for the game. This engine added gameplay features to the first-person shooter genre which were uncommon at the time of release, including level designs with multiple floors and the ability to look up and down.

This actually looks pretty amazing - let's hope the gameplay is on a same level :)
