Developer of Kingdom Come: Deliverance game regrets that he did not have more time to polish the title
Just two weeks ago, Czech developer Warhorse Studios released its first game that, despite numerous problems, especially bugs, it managed to attract a millions of audience in just seven days. Although it was a great success for the studio, co-founder Martin Klima regrets that they did not have time to devote themselves to the polishing of 'Kingdom Come: Deliverance'.
Specifically, during discussion about the title in official forums, executive producer Klima stated that he does not consider the Kingdom Come: Deliverance an AAA title, but also that is not a traditional indie title as well as more of something in-between. Also, he admitted that he and the team made "a share of bad decisions" since they lost a lot of time and energy on the things they had in the end abandon.
"I do not see Kingdom Come: Deliverance as a competition for Assassin's Creed or Shadow of War. We simply do not have the resources to create such a game. But still, I think we're not even developers of indie game. The trend I see in the 'real' AAA titles is geared towards creating more and more games that are forgiving, responding better to casual and hardcore players; these are actually games that play 'themselves'. So, you have all these different marks, instructions and helpful tips so that you never have to think about what's next, "Klima quotes.
"On the other hand," continues, "we see a trend among indie games that are more original and less forgiving, but because of limited budget they have to be delivered in a format that is somewhat simpler for development; for example, many of them are 2D platforms or top-down titles. "
Finally, he says that "KCD is an attempt of bridging these two kinds: it's an indie game in the heart - more hardcore, more demanding, fiercer - but with the visual and production values of AAA game," then admits he merely regrets that he and his team did not have more time to polish the title before launching, since every AAA game deserves that.
