The story in Dying Light 2 will not have anything to do with the one from the previous game

An original Dying Light had a completely solid story that some critics literally buried. It seems that the Polish studio Techland has taken these reviews to the heart and has decided to work exactly on the narration segment, or story. At E3, we learned that Chris Avellon, the narrative designer of Fallout 2 and the recent Prey will work on this game, but now we know that he is not the only talented member of the writing team.
In fact, the story is about a team of writers who wrote some of the best quests in The Witcher 3. Specifically, it's a team dedicated to the story of Bloody Baron, which The Witcher fans often proclaim the best in a whole game.
Interestingly, the writers of Dying Light 2 wanted to move away from the story from the original, so the sequel was placed 15 years later then for it have prepared a new protagonist. The game is still in the same world as the first Dying Light, but in narrative, there is no any link to what happened in Harran or in the first part. This will also favor new players playing Dying Light 2 without knowing the story of the previous part.
Since the story in the game will branch after each mission, the way in which co-op functions will also change. Dying Light 2 will support co-op play for four players, just like its predecessor, but one of these players will have to take over the role of a host and will only to him progress in the campaign be saved, while other players will only be guests and their save will only be a character progression.
