Telltale with new games also switches over to a new engine
Video games of the development team Telltale Games have been very similar to each other for the last few years. Whether you've played The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, or Batman, gameplay was the same in most cases, and over time, we've seen more and more limitations in the design of scenes and levels. All of this came from problems with an engine that Telltale has developed internally so it could switch games to more platforms.
Even after the arrival of new consoles, Telltale's games looked like they got stuck in the previous generation. The change came only in mid-2016, and with quite a few problems in optimization and bugs on the new version of engine. The same in the meantime has been stabilized, but as portal Variety finds out, Telltale will not use it for much longer.
Namely, The Walking Dead: The Final Season will be the last game that Telltale will play on their own engine. After that, the studio will switch to popular Unity. This means that future games may be a bit late because Telltale employees are just getting used to this new type of engine. The first game that Telltale will debut on Unity will be Stranger Things, made by Netflix's TV series. It will be followed by second season of adventure The Wolf Among Us.
