Fallout 76 suppose to have cross-play, but this for now is not possible
The landscapes of West Virginia this fall will be able to explore in duet, tercet or quartet. But for Fallout 76, will apply the same multiplayer rule as that for most other games - everyone will be able to play only with players from their platform. In other words, there is no cross-play or the ability that PS4 players play with players on the Xbox consoles.
However, as found out by the German portal Gamestar in a conversation with Todd Howard, it was not that in Bethesda they had no idea of cross-play functionality. Howard said he would like to offer players the opportunity to join and fight independently of the platform, but he said it was not possible at the moment. Asked why this is so, Howard said "Sony isn't being as helpful as we want them to be."
This is not the first time that some developer expresses dissatisfaction or points finger at Sony, even though blame here is not exclusive on them. Specifically, cross-play in Fallout 76 will not also be there where the same is possible (PC and XBOX, PS4 and PC), and to that Sony is certainly not the culprit.
