G2 see off Clou9 at FACEIT Major

G2 have eliminated Cloud9 with a 22-19 victory on Inferno at the FACEIT Major New Legends Stage.

The Inferno game featuring two teams with 1-2 records started with G2 on the CT-side. Cloud9 secured the pistol round with Martin "STYKO" Styk and William "RUSH" Wierzba's double kills and made it 3-0 after straightforward anti-eco rounds.

Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro got a triple kill in the first weapon round to win it for G2 but Cloud9 reacted two rounds later and went on to make it 6-2. G2 managed to recover and finished the first half with a 8-7 lead..

The Franco-Belgian team took the B-site in the second pistol and led 11-7 following anti-eco wins. Cloud9 responded with a retake in the first weapon round and followed it up with three more rounds to tie it the game at 11-11.

Cloud9 acquired a match point with Timothy "autimatic" Ta's 1vs2 and a 2vs3 retake a round later but G2 were able to get the 30th round and take the game to overtime.

G2 closed out the game in the second overtime, winning the map 22-19 to improve their record to 2-2 at the FACEIT Major New Legends Stage. Meanwhile, Cloud9's run in the tournament has come to an end.
