Singleplayer games are not dead - at least not at Bethesda. At E3 Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 were announced. Two titles especially focused on soloists.  Pete Hines said in an Intverview, why single-player fans still need stamina and a comfort chair.

Especially lovers of the epic role-playing series The Elder Scrolls need a long breath - because after Fallout 76, it's first Starfield's turn. The trend in the gaming sector has been going on for years to short online multiplayer games. This is shown not least by the success of various Battle Royale titles such as Fortnite or PUBG. For Bethesda, it was important to signal the fans of epic single-player stories, that despite the direction Fallout 76 takes, they still regard themselves as a studio, which also delivers games for soloists. Although there has been nothing short of a teaser to The Elder Scrolls 6, just this single-player signal was crucial to the announcement at E3. In addition to The Elder Scrolls 6, is as Bethesda Game Studio's Starfield yet another single player game in the making.

But there will be several years to go before land-based gameplay material is released, according to Pete Hines. But this is not due to a modified release rhythm, because he has allegedly not changed. Pete Hines explains this as follows:

"The timeframe for Bethesda releases has not changed at all, but what has changed is our desire to communicate a roadmap for our upcoming titles. [...] Years are still passing between our projects: Fallout 76 is an online game and not necessarily something fans of Bethesda expect. We are redirecting the franchise in another direction, so it was important for us to tell fans that we have a new singleplayer IP with Starfield. We do not want players to think, that the end of the singleplayer games has come from Bethesda, of course, we still have a lot of development time - just look at the time between the releases of Fallout 3 and Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. It will still take about that long, it has not changed. "

After this clear statement, Singplayer lovers shouldn't be too negative about Bethesda's upcoming games. The player base wasn't happy with the turn of Fallout 76's always online concept. especially after Bethesda started their own "Save Player 1" campaign, only directed to the mission to save the singleplayer genre.
