The Division 2 Year 1 pass gives “instant access” to endgame specializations
The pass offers a week’s early access to the Year 1 Episodes, which Ubisoft first unveiled as free DLC back at E3. So it’s a familiar where those who pay extra get in early, but everyone gets in seven days later. Pass holders will also get eight “classified assignments” – no clarification on what those are, but they sound like the endgame challenges of the previous title – and other bonus activities and cosmetics.
It also gives “instant access to all Year 1 Specializations as they release,” which is perhaps the most interesting detail. The Division 2 Specializations are a sort of prestige class system that lets you continue progressing your character after you reach the level cap. But we don’t yet know how they’re meant to be unlocked in-game, or how much of a leg-up it’ll be to buy access through the pass.
Fans have tended to respond well to most of the purchase options in Ubisoft’s other ongoing online games, so hopefully The Division 2 will continue to follow the same precedent.
You can check out the listing via the Ubisoft store, as noted on Reddit.
PC players get an extra bonus for buying in – a free game goes out for The Division 2 pre-orders. We’ll likely hear more concrete details on how the Year 1 pass works soon, and you’ll still have plenty of time to pick up a pre-order if the deal sounds appealing.
