The Fortnite Season 8 map replaces Wailing Woods with a volcano

  • 9

While Season 7 introduced a snowy biome in the south-west corner of the map, Season 8 is offering a far warmer alternative. An enormous volcano – likely related to the cracks that have recently been appearing throughout the game – has erupted out of the ground in what appears to be the north-east corner of the map.

That’s based off of an image which shows the volcano relatively near a coastline, with what seems to be The Block off in the distance, and the Junk Junction llama even further behind. That would suggest that volcano has appeared beneath what used to be Wailing Woods, which could be found in the north-east corner of the map.

As well as the volcano itself, it looks like the woods will be replaced by two new named locations – Sunny Steps and Lazy Lagoon. We won’t know exactly where those will be until the Fortnite Season 8 release time, but we can take a decent guess.

That very same image I mentioned earlier appears to show a body of water behind the volcano which I don’t think was there before, so I’d imagine that’s Lazy Lagoon. Sunny Steps is a bit less clear, but there seems to be plenty of crates scattered in among the lava flowing from the volcano, so I imagine that’s where you’ll find the second location.

Fortnite Season 8 brings plenty more changes, including the new Fortnite Party Assist system, and a new Battle Pass filled with skins. If that’s not enough, there’s even a pirate cannon that you can use to fire your friends across the battlefield.
