Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will NOT have microtransactions and not play like Dark Souls
A series of Tweets by Jay Ingram, EA's Star Wars community manager, has confirmed that the game will be old school:
A single-player Star Wars story for those of you who are ready to become a Jedi
This was in response to numerous fan questions about how the game would play out, given EA's history of placing microtransaction gates between content and loot that garnered it much hatred among fans of numerous EA games.
In addition, there will be no plans for DLCs, no Season passes and no Loot boxes! It will just be old school gaming with the game that you actually purchased. Fans will no doubt be extremely stoked about this turn of events from EA.
In an interview with PressStart, Game Director of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order also highlighted that the game will not play like Dark Souls as early speculation suggested. Instead:
A lot of it’s influenced by, you know — If you look at a game like Zelda Wind Waker, as you get different abilities, each enemy is crafted in a certain way, or even Metroid.
