This piece of news comes from a recent post on reddit, in which user thethiny has datamined the most recent version of MK11 and has found some interesting info:
Allegedly there will be 19 characters added to the game through DLCs but as there's no official confirmation from NetherRealm I would take all this info with a grain of salt.
