As things stand now, Starbreeze Studios will shut down within a year

Developing studio and publisher Starbreeze, known for games like Payday and Overkill's The Walking Dead, is in big trouble. Apart from the dismal sales results of the latter, the CEO's departure, the studio also sold their publishing rights for System Shock 3. All of the above resulted in instability within the company and an insufficient cash inflow to cover the running costs.

But, there is a possibility for Starbreeze to somehow stay with head above water. Studio is expecting to redeem part of its money that has been invested in the development of System Shock 3, and it also plans restructuring around monetization policy in the only relatively successful game they have - Payday 2. And the temporary director claims that his primary task is to provide short-term, but also long-term financing of all the studio's future operations. Only after that will consider additional options and potential partnerships or mergers with other companies.

We can only hope that this will not affect an upcoming release of Psychonauts 2 whose publisher is Starbreeze Studios.

They have had major issues for along time. I hope they can figure things out and come back on top again!
