We got our first glimpse of the game when artist BossLogic tweeted out a picture that said "tune in for the next Assassin's Creed chapter" followed by a link to a Twitch live stream where he slowly unveiled the viking-themed key art for the game.

The completed picture (seen below) was then followed by the unveiling of the new game's name and the announcement of a world premiere cinematic trailer that's debuting on Youtube at 5pm CEST/4pm BST/11am EDT/8am PDT on April 30 (or 1am AEST on May 1).

Well, at this point Vikings are a safe bet. The next game will be set in the likes of Scotland or Scandanavia, and could borrow some of the legends from the era as well as from general Norse mythology as we've seen in the past with Assassin's Creed II (set in Renaissance Italy) and Assassin's Creed IV (set in the Golden Age of Pirates).

As far as how this game will fit in chronologically with the series remains to be seen – although, we probably won't have long to wait to find out.

We'll be keeping an eye on Ubisoft's social accounts and updating you with any juicy titbits that may emerge.
