ETS2 - Operation Genoa Bridge

2 days ago a new event got launched on the World of Trucks website, which is a part of the Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Simulator community. World of Trucks is a website which is owned by the development studio of both ETS2 and ATS, SCS Software. On that website, you can find ongoing events, your trips (if you use external cargos in-game) and much more. Like said earlier, 2 days ago we got the starting shot for yet another nice event, called Operation Genoa Bridge.

A bit of history

Let me first start by giving you some information about the Genoa Bridge, as we call it in Euro Truck Simulator 2, because this bridge has a history in the game, just like in real life.

The bridge is actually called Ponte Morandi in real life. Ponte Morandi was a road viaduct in Genoa, constructed between 1963 and 1967. The viaduct was placed along the A10 motorway and crossed the Polcevera river. Unfortunately, a disaster took place on the 14th of August 2018. The viaduct collapsed during a rainstorm and 43 people lost their lives because of it. When this happened, SCS Software made this tragedy come to live in-game as well. Truckers were not able to use that bridge anymore.

In April 2020, not that long ago, the final section of the new bridge was hoisted into place and the reopening is planned in July 2020. Therefore the virtual trucking community got this event.

About the in-game event

Long story short, the virtual truckers need to transport cargos from and to 2 construction sites. One at each end of the bridge. The depots are called:

EAST bridge depot - CDE EST
WEST bridge depot - CDE OVEST

The event got divided into 2 sections:

A personal goal
A community goal

Personal goal

For the personal goal, truckers need to transport 12 cargos to or from those 2 construction sites. Those 12 trips have to be divided equally over the 2 construction sites. So 6 deliveries need to be done for the East side and 6 for the West side of the bridge.

The reward you get if you complete the personal goal is a Terra Constructor paint job.

Community goal

For the community goal, all trucker need to deliver 1 million deliveries in total. Again those deliveries need to be divided equally over the 2 construction sites. So 500.000 cargos per site.

The reward you get for the accomplishment of this community goal is a hanging item for in the truck, the Plush Terra Road Roller. This reward can only be obtained if the personal goal is met as well.
