Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 launches August 25th. Here's what you need to know.
Hi everyone,
TL;DR: Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is available now on PS5, Xbox, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Four-player co-op, full cross-platform support, five classes, a new elemental damage system, a story with real stakes, and new Xenomorphs that don't behave like anything you've faced before.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is available now. Here's what you need to know.
We wanted to talk through what's actually in the game, and what's in each edition, instead of just dropping a store page and letting people guess.
Contact Report: What You're Walking Into
The Xenomorphs stalking around on LV-558 are more than a little formidable, but you're a Marine, and you're equipped to take on the threat. Just remember: fire burns them, cryo can freeze them solid, and a well-timed follow-up shatters them for bonus damage. Electricity won't do much to a Xeno, but it's been known to stop a Synth in its tracks.
Learn what beats what before you're surrounded. By then it's too late.
Horde Mode: How Long Can Your Squad Hold the Line
Multiple dedicated Horde maps are available now, each one built to push your squad through increasingly difficult waves with better rewards the longer you survive. Challenge cards mix things up between runs, forcing your fireteam to adapt on the fly instead of running the same strategy every time.
Horde Mode is where you'll stress-test builds, learn what your class can really do under pressure, and find out which of your squadmates panics first when the swarm doesn't stop coming.
What's Different From the First Game
We didn't just add a fourth player and call it a day. Squads went from three to four, which meant rebuilding encounters around bigger, more flexible team compositions instead of just scaling up enemy counts. Full cross-platform support is in, so your squad doesn't have to match consoles to play together. You can now crouch, which is a bigger deal than it sounds. And on higher difficulties, friendly fire is on, so callouts and positioning actually matter.
None of these changes were made to be different for the sake of it. Every one came from watching how squads actually played the first game, and fixing what got in the way.
A Story Worth Fighting For
This isn't a series of missions strung together. Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 was built with a real throughline, one that carries you from the first drop into Storr Boon's Mining Facility to whatever's waiting at the bottom of it. Same universe, same dread, something new hidden in the depths.
The 40th Anniversary Premium Edition
The 40th Anniversary Premium Edition ($69.99) includes Ripley's Hive Exterminator Pack and Herk's Mondo Pest Pack. Each pack contains an outfit, weapon colors, and decals representing the iconic characters themselves. Rain's Jackson's Star Pack is also available separately, featuring items inspired by Alien: Romulus' Rain Carradine. Equip these items on any class you're running!
