Next Major Windows 10 Update Coming This Spring

  • 279

The update was announced at an event earlier today. Named the Creators Update, it will update creator programs. Paint 3D boys! Because Microsoft wants 3D to be available for everyone, Paint 3D will allow people to see 3D objects via HoloLens feature without the need of those stupid glasses. You can also create 3D objects and share them easily with people. In fact, Paint 3D will have Minecraft integration. You can take objects you created in Minecraft and put them into Paint 3D and then print them with a 3D printer. Someone please send me 3D object of a waifu please so I can print it for reals. Just kidding, I don't even have a 3D printer. Hopefully this integration of game objects can be applied to other games, especially those that are more detailed.

Believe it or not, this 3D support was also presented in PowerPoint. You know how boring those slides were when your classmates would just read from their slides? Well now they can make it less boring by putting in 3D objects in there. They could put a 3D image that can be moved and distract you and even your teacher from the boredom that is their presentation.

Uh, if you are also down for VR headsets, Microsoft is partnering up with HP, Dell, Lenovo, Asus, and Acer to make cheaper new headsets starting at $299 (WOW SO CHEAP). The update will also include in-game broadcasting via Beam that lets you stream and also have your own tournaments. What sets Beam apart from the other streaming sites is that Beam lets viewers directly change the streamer's game.

Oh yeah, you can also put people on your taskbar to easily talk to them... if you have friends. They will appear on the right hand side.

Overall, this update looks rad. I'm looking forward to using it this spring. Been a huge MS Paint fan. Hope the revamp makes it even more legit. What do you guys think? Does it make Windows 10 more appealing or are you going to try to avoid this update as long as you can?

MSPaint 3D, ahahahaha! I'm not even making that up, it's seriously coming with the next update [EDIT: Now the article has actually appeared for me, I see this has been clearly noted]. Do forgive me but I suddenly have the inescapable urge to collapse in a fit of hysterics!

Just imagine the influence it could have if it gains the same sort of industry-acceptance as MSPaint did... <heh>... I mean... <heheheh>... oh my God, I can't even get the joke out without breaking down in laughter! I better go now, cheers!

I'm waiting for the day MS Paint is king instead of Photoshop.

This update looks awesome, esp pinning ur friends contacts on taskbar. But i haven't actually proceeded with windows 10 anniversary update yet just because many struggled while gaming after the update. I wonder if they fixed those issues on this one.

HAHA Paint 3D. I don't even think you can postpone win10 updates for too long, not much of a choice.

I'll always stick with Photoshop though. Granted I'm not dipping into the 3D printing stuff.

Yeaa new update and old pc screwed up again as usual on MS WIN X

But anyways I'm looking on insider and this new features looks a step to something else so let's wait to see how that ends

True and I believe that "something else" is Microsoft's HoloLens. Even though it may seem a bit late considering that 3D is almost passée these days (first cinemas, then home TVs, now every major gaming platform), HoloLens is a massive, long-term project for Microsoft that they've been working on for years. It will be key to the "mid-generation console refresh", when MS and Sony beef up their existing consoles and add a few features to boost sales prior to making a full generation jump. It will also be key to Microsoft's next (unannounced) console and they'll be shoe-horning it into the Windows line-up in any way they possibly can.

Of course, none of this is official (well, some of it is but I'm not sure how much they've announced), but it was leaked from confirmed Microsoft documents over 5 years ago and so far the leaked data has come to pass - including Microsoft's official announcement of the HoloLens. In my opinion, that piece of hardware is the primary driver behind Microsoft's determined push towards 3D in Win 10 (and later the revised XBone and later still the XBone's successor).

I hope it's as good as they seemed to think it would be 5 years ago.
