Head of development of facial animations in Mass Effect Andromeda did not had any previous work experience
Around facial animations of characters in Mass Effect Andromeda has been lifted a big fuss that certainly will not make a good advertisement to the game itself. However, the topic would not be half as interesting if it is not about big budget title of one of the most talented development studios in the video game industry. The real question is how the characters in Andromeda could turn out so unnatural (not to say ugly), if to the team this is not the first project on the Frostbite engine.
It seems that the answer may have come with the investigation of who stands behind the animation of facial expressions. Specifically, for the job was responsible Canadian Allie Rose-Marie Leost to whom it was the first engagement in the video game industry. Although Leost previously worked on projects related to the animations for television shows, she never worked within the video game industry.
However, it remains unclear how big of the impact of the humorous facial animation (for a project of this size) Leost actually had. Although on the official Twitter profile states how she is the head of the development for facial animation in Andromeda, according to other data she is an employee in Electronic Arts since early 2016. Andromeda already then was in an advanced stage of development so it is not even unlikely that the entire work of face animations was done in less than a year. But considering how much all of this together seems strange, at least on the human characters, anything is possible.
Leost about all of this still didn`t stated anything. Just as we reported yesterday, the chief designer of Andromeda said that facial animation will not be corrected until the game's release.
