Announced RTS game Ancestors in which we will control Slavic tribes

  • 39

Publishing House 1C Company and Studio Destructive Creations announced a new RTS genre, called Ancestors. We doubt that this is going to like creator of Assassin's Creed whose new game is also called Ancestors with the subtitle of The Humankind Odyssey, but for the time being we have two Ancestors. In any case, this is a strategic game that will give us under our command one of the four European nations during the Middle Ages - Viking, Anglo-Saxon, German and Slavs.

The game will be based on real-life events, but players will be able to change the course of history with careful tactics. Gameplay will come down to the use of the war ground, micro-management bases and settlements and of course - the bloody battles you will be able to access with the movie camera - in action, as shown by the first trailer.

The game is run by Unreal Engine 4 and apart from a single player campaign we will also have multiplayer battles. Ancestors is announced for the PC and Xbox One, and more details about it will be revealed in the eighth month at Gamescom.

Right, first thing they probably could've done is to provide us with a trailer that doesn't look like an RPG :D

Anyway, always had a soft spot for RTS's, but there hasn't been too many great titles in recent years, or then i've just played the wrong ones. Been just going back to the classics in the end, Hopefully they can provide us with interesting setting/clans and balanced gameplay.

Interstellar

The trailer looks good, but I'd want to see more about gameplay, especially since this is listed as a strategy game and, as mentioned above, the trailer looks more like an RPG or Hack-n-Slash.

Is this the opening cinematic?  This certainly doesn't look like a rts.

Could you give me an example of what a cinematic should look like in an RTS game?

Because it doesn't really matter how a cinematic looks like, it's not like they will film it with a top down camera 24/7. Dawn of war had the same thing:

Just like the majority of RTS cinematics.

Okay? Could you further explain your point maybe if it's not to difficult?
