Team Fortress 2 has degenerated - today the game looks worse than 10 years ago

Team Fortress 2 with us for about ten years and is still popular - the game is constantly in top by the number of players. You'd think that with all the development of technology and engines, Valve had to make TF2 more beautiful. However, as you can see on the comparison below, Team Fortress 2 does not evolve, but degrades. The picture in the game took a step back.

CrowbCat compared the original version of 2007, which was successfully saved on Xbox 360 and PS3, with the last build on the PC.

Although significant elements, like the texture maps, remained the same, pay attention to how the lighting looks, some models - especially large guns, lost detail. A number of animations are coarser, and some are even cut out! Not to mention physics.

To look at it sadly - unfortunately, for that there is a reason, albeit strange. Team Fortress 2 has become a free-to-play game, which means that it should work on a wide range of hardware and also take into account all the extra caps. However, it is not clear why Valve simply did not add graphic options. Also some of the problems relate to the new lighting model - it does some things better, but given the style and design features of the game, it does not fit very well.

Oh no, how am I going to enjoy the game now that I found there's 5 less pixels on my gun?!

While the title of your article is not wrong, i expected some Ubisoft level of downgrades on how you phrased it. This is barely any difference and i doubt many who actually play the game really care at all if some lightnings and textures are mildly off compared to the 2007 version.
