The Egyptian "Sheriff" Bayek of Siwa will have a demanding task to stand aside the Assassin's Creed protagonists who left remembered as interesting characters. After Ezio and Desmond, the AC series had no longer a permanent protagonist, but if Bayek becomes well-received - it might change.

In the first presentation of AC Origin we got a short section of Bayek's role and character, and now director of Ashraf Ismail explained what design philosophy was leading the scriptwriters when creating the main character and what we can expect from him.

"The idea is that Bayek is a physical incarnation of ancient Egypt. In the story that we are talking about, he represents Egypt, what this country must do and what he must become to avoid dying by the arrival of the new world. The question is who Bayek must become to survive in the new world. This is the journey we are following and the journey leading to birth of order of Assassin's. " - commented Ismail.

He described Bayek as a person who will always react if bad things are happening. Therefore, his role will be more protective than predatory.

While they don't have permanent protagonists, I love that there is still the familial connections.  I haven't done much research on the Origins background yet, but I am curious to see how the new guy fits into the family tree.

This is also what I am wondering. Guess more details would be revealed soon enough.

So kind of like how John Marston was the embodiment of old west in Red Dead Redemption?

Maybe he is Edward Keyway's great, great grandfather!  Most of the recent games have been direct lines of his family, haven't they? Conner, and Haytham for sure.  Were there others that were more distant bloodlines?
