BioWare explained to us how the Freelancer and Javelin system will work in Anthem

  • 1022

During the announcement of Anthem at the recent E3, BioWare with all forces tried to leave an impression of originality. They've described like that playable characters as Freelancers while classes they've called Javelins and just as they explained to the common folk what are these two, because it was way too easy to say protagonists and classes, their presentation was practically finished without having learned some tiny details about these basic game systems.

The fans then contacted executive producer Mark Darrah on Twitter where he then had to answer a whole series of questions. We've learned like that a one very important thing, and that's how in the game we can create a few Freelancers on one account. The final number was not revealed, but in any case a huge stone fell from our heart - because after all this is Electronic Arts, they would charge you for the air you inhale, if they could.

Furthermore, we've learned that loot system will mainly be oriented towards Javelin/armor that you wear during missions. Equipment will, however, be measured according to the level of the Freelancer, or character that is unrelated to which Javelin is being used. It has been confirmed that players will have inventory in the game, but they will only be able to use it outside of missions, meaning that no new weapons can be added to the arsenal during missions.

Changing equipment, or at the very end Javelin alone, will take place in the main base where players can also respec, or reassign activated skills for their Freelancer.

Interstellar

Bioware is trying to do a really big game. I think it will be a mess or this gen can't handle this.

Can't wait to see more of it, and hope it will still be an RPG more than a shooter
