Sony announced that the PlayStation classic will be released on December 3rd, 2018. The retrofitted console will be similar to Nintendo’s NES Classic which will be priced at $99. The console will be about half the size of the original PlayStation. Included with the console is two DualShock controllers, which means analog sticks will not be featured.

It will have an HDMI output and its original buttons will function. The PlayStation’s classic tray button will act as a way to switch between games. While the reset button will function to pause the game if needed

“Today, we are excited to announce that we are bringing back the original PlayStation experience in a new miniaturized version, PlayStation Classic! The console will come pre-loaded with 20 classic titles, including fan-favorites such as Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms.”

The console was announced through Sony’s PS Blog with this statement:

“Almost 25 years ago, the original PlayStation was introduced to the world. Developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, it was the first home console in video game history to ship 100 million units worldwide, offering consumers a chance to play games with real-time 3D rendered graphics in their homes for the first time.”

The titles above are the only ones announced so far. More games will be mentioned upon its release. Here’s hope that it will include classic titles like Crash Bandicoot, Wipeout, Twisted Metal, and Spyro the Dragon
