Fortnite Disco Domination Mode Teased

Epic Games has already given Fortnite players plenty of reasons to jump back in the game recently. Season 6 has just begun bringing with it major map changes, an all-new content theme and plenty of new cosmetics for players to unlock. There’s also a new Battle Pass to progress through and challenges to complete. But, in case people needed even more of an incentive, Epic is also working on a new game mode.

Players who logged into Fortnite today will have seen the new Message of the Day teasing a new Limited Time Mode (LTM) called Disco Domination. The message is more of a teaser than a full rundown of the mode, saying that players will “Capture and defend Dance Floors around the island using emotes to earn points.”

Although the exact player count has yet to be disclosed, it’s not hard to imagine the mayhem that could ensue if Disco Domination is a 50 versus 50 player mode or if players are able to play in squads. It may well look like the BTS and Jimmy Fallon Fortnite dance challenge attempt, albeit far less coordinated.

Although Epic Games doesn’t provide an exact release date for the new game mode, fans are expecting it to release sometime this week along with the Fortnite 6.1 patch. The Week 2 challenges are expected to go live on Thursday (this is generally when new challenges are made available in the game) and so the mode should also be live by then.

It’s unclear what else the 6.1 patch may include but some players will be hoping that Epic Games is finally able to release a proper fix for the game’s new Shadow Stones. The consumables were removed twice in just two days as a result of technical issues and exploits and fans will be hoping that Epic has managed to identify the root cause and that Shadow Stones will finally return.

Some may also have their fingers crossed that Epic will add even more spooky, Halloween-themed content to the game. The Fortnite map has already introduced giant spiders and ghosts but fingers crossed that update 6.1 will turn the creep-factor up a notch ahead of the holiday.

Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and iOS devices. An Android beta is currently taking place.
