Blizzard released a floor plan for the convention a few weeks ago. That map confirmed the locations of all of the company’s major stages, Hall D given over to the convention’s main stage. A small area of the hall, however, was given over to Diablo III demos and another Diablo-themed room named the Horadric Retreat.
Last night, however, hardware provider Corsair tweeted out their own version of the map, showing off the location of their convention booth. That map showed another room in Hall D, right next to the Diablo area, dedicated to unspecified demos. Importantly, however, that room doesn’t show up on Blizzard’s floor plan. Which begs the questions: why wasn’t it included, and what game will it be demoing?
It could be that the was just a last-minute addition which didn’t make it onto Blizzard’s original floorplan – or it could be that the developer has been hiding something. Either way, we won’t know more until the convention begins later today.
The two pre-existing Diablo rooms will likely be given over to Diablo III’s Nintendo Switch release. As to whether we’ll actually be shown Diablo 4 at the convention, I really couldn’t say. The last we heard was a blog post from Blizzard discouraging fans from getting their hopes up too far, but rumours have rumbled on for years now, and it’s worth pointing out that Diablo features on the main stage directly after the BlizzCon opening ceremony.
Personally, I’m holding out for a relatively significant announcement, although I acknowledge that Diablo 4 is probably a bit of a reach. A potential alternative is a remaster of Diablo II, but the reality is that you’ll have to wait until tonight to find out more.
