Eisen enters the arena with the new Quake Champions patch
The new Quake Champions patch suffered a severe failure on thursday night but is now out with its load of new features and a new original champion : Eisen.
Eisen is a Quake Champions exclusive character that doesn't come from previous Quake titles or other id software games (such as DooM or BJ Blazkowicz from Wolfenstein). This german speaking contender comes from the same realm than Clutch, another Quake Champions exclusive character, and was apparently a spaceship captain before he had to chase the robot into the arena. As a champion, his active ability is to be able to lay down a Sentry Turret to shoot at his foes and, most of all, reveal their position. See below for a short presentation video.
This new patch (full log here) also brings a lot of changes to the different abilities of the champions to refine their balance. The main idea here is to make these abilities less powerful to prevent them from being too cheesy and grant instant free frags. The rocket launcher projectile speed as also been reduced to be in line with what it was in Quake Live, and the lightning gun damage has been reduced for balance purpose. The Sacrifice mode is also now available again, as well as some other "arcade" modes.
To celebrate this new character, id software also decided to launch a community event, just like they did with the Slipgate Festival in october when Athena came out. The aim here is to choose a team, either Eisen's or Clutch's. Then, the number of frags you will do in a certain amount of time will add to the global score of your team. The score of your team will allow for some goodies to be granted to the community. Get all the informations about this event here.
