Destiny 2: Riven Beat By 1 Player Doing Weapon Damage
Solo Damage Riven Kill (Only 1 Player Damaging With Buffs) | Destiny 2
This week, Destiny 2 players found an exploit (bug?) that allowed Titans to use the Synthoceps exotic gauntlets to do insane damage to bosses. Now, players are discovering just how powerful that exploit is, even going so far as to kill the Last Wish raid boss using (almost) one player’s weapon damage.
As usual, Clan Redeem and friends completed this impressive feat and it’s fairly simple to set up. One Titan uses the tried and true cluster bomb rocket launcher strategy, only they are constantly buffed by Well of Radiance and Titan Hammer Strikes. With those buffs, the Titan deals out 14.7 million points of damage.
Of course, this Destiny 2 challenge has a few caveats to it. Because the Titans needed to apply Hammer Strike (melting point) for a debuff, they do end up dealing some damage to Riven. That damage is negligible in the grand scheme of things, mind you, but it is still important to point out.
For those that are curious how everything works, there are a few strategies at play here. First off is Cluster Bomb rockets, which do big damage to Riven and allow the fireteam to skip all of the Riven boss fight mechanics. Shoot rockets into her mouth as soon as she appears, and with enough buffs she will send the fight to the next phase.
The other component that is used for small team strategies on Riven is the Merciless strat. If players fire Merciless at Riven while falling past her at the start of the boss fight, the weapon will “remember” firing at her when it comes time to damage. As a result, the perk that makes Merciless fire faster the more times it hits a target goes into effect. It’s a useful trick for getting that last bit of damage necessary to deplete Riven’s first health bar.
And of course, there is the Synthoceps exploit, which combines with the Well of Radiance buff to give Titans’ weapon damage a boost when the Biotic Enhancements perk is active. Obviously, this isn’t how these perks are supposed to work, but for now, it allows challenge runners to complete feats like this.
