Here's our first look at the upcoming changes to the Heart of Azeroth in 8.2

  • 29

In 8.2, players will be able to access the newly added Heart Forge, where they will be able to socket powerful new abilities called Essences into their Heart of Azeorth. Players will be able to earn Essences from different in-game activities (like completing a raid, participating in PvP, or completing a world quest). Essences will be unique and will have an active and a passive element to them. These Essences will also have ranks, 1st rank will be the least potent, ranks 2 & 3 will be increasing in power and rank 4 will only add a cosmetic effect to the active spell.

Adding an Essence to the major socket will activate its active and passive abilities. Socketing an Essence in the minor slot will only activate the passive ability.

These abilities won't be class specific but rather role specific:

  • Healer
Artifice of Time

 Soulbound
 Essence
Use: Infuse your Heart of Azeroth with Artifice of Time.

Major Power:
40 yard range
Instant
4 minute cooldown
Create a time vortex around a friendly target that absorbs 496,932 damage and 496,932 healing for 6 seconds. When this expires, the absorbed damage and healing occurs periodically over 10 seconds.
Minor Power:
Passive
Your heals have a very high chance to grant the target 304 Haste for 8 seconds.

  • DPS
Focusing Iris

 Soulbound
 Essence
Use: Infuse your Heart of Azeroth with the Focusing Iris.

Major Power:
0.8 second cast   1.5 minute cooldown
Focus excess Azerite energy into the Heart of Azeroth, then expel that energy outward, dealing 126, 700 Fire damage to all enemies in front of you over 2.7 seconds.

Minor Power:
Passive

Every 2 seconds, the Heart of Azeroth absorbs nearby latent Azerite energy, increasing your Haste by 29, stacking up to 10 times.

  • Tank
Burning Embrace

 Soulbound
 Essence
Use: Infuse your Heart of Azeroth with Burning  Embrace.

Major Power:
Instant         2 minute cooldown
Draw upon your own vitality to sear your foes, sacrificing 10% of your maximum health to deal Fire damage to all nearby enemies equal to the health lost.

Minor Power:
Passive
Azerite energy courses through your veins, increasing maximum health by 3,430 every 4 seconds, stacking up to 10 times.

This effect is lost if you fall below 35% health.

The Essence system will work alongside the already existing Azerite Armor.

Blizzard hasn't announce a release date for patch 8.2, Rise of Azshara.
