Factorio devs say G2A hasn’t been “exactly prompt” to compensate over fraudulent key sales

In a blog posting on its website (via PCGamesInsider.biz), the studio claims that in a "G2A–Worse than Piracy" chapter, "in 2016, just after our Steam release, we had a lot of charging and fraud problems. We estimate the quantity we paid for reimbursement by an average fee of approximately $20 to around $6,600.'

The report states that it contacted G2, with its compensation offering, which is said to involve a "reputable and autonomous auditing business" looking to find out, "If any game keys sold in G2A had been acquired by stolen loan cards from a shop developer." I've got a list of all the Steam keys I had to withdraw because they had been bought with fraud and G2A offered to review the keys. At the moment, the story is over, they haven't answered (two days ago) my last email to send the keys and ask how many of them have been selling on the website.

G2A seems to be in touch with Wube since the blog was published on July 12. We contacted G2A for comment and replied that it was in contact with the devs from factory and would shortly be sharing more information, although Wube has not yet published an update.

Mike Rose, the director of indie publisher No More Robots, created a petition and encouraged players to just pirate No More Robots games rather than purchase them on G2A. Wube says “our stance is pretty much the same as Mike, we would rather you pirate Factorio.”

Wube advises individuals "to purchase from us, or from one of our formal partners. You could not just believe about the reasons. You have to handle their support scheme when you purchase from a grey market site and have a game issue, or something goes wrong. It adds that when consumers purchase from the studio "you can be sure that your case is dealt with in a timely fashion by team members who understand the game."

G2A suggested a solution last week in the form of a key-blocking instrument for key reselling issues, but intends to have at least 100 devs subscribed by August 15 before they begin to operate.
