System requirements for Hitman 3 have been revealed, they're not that deadly

  • 156

Even though we're months away from the release of Hitman 3, we have learned what kind of hardware is needed to run this inter-gen game on PC platform.

Depending on the religious beliefs of belonging to a particular platform, Hitman 3 will be released in early 2021 (on the Epic Games Store) or in early 2022 (on Steam). But regardless of the platform, the game will have the same hardware requirements, and they have just been released.

Although it is about a Hitman which will be an intergenerational title, this will not be reflected in the PC version, at least not officially. Namely, the hardware requirements for Hitman 3 are almost identical to those for Hitman 2 from 2018. The only difference is that the third part will be exclusively DirectX 12 title and therefore will run only through Windows 10. Also, a larger installation is expected, so players are recommended to have 80 gigabytes of free disk space (in comparisons, Hitman 2 required 60 GB).

Here are the full requirements for Hitman 3 in the PC version:

Minimum bald requirements:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3 GHz / AMD Phenom II X4 940
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 / Radeon HD 7870
  • RAM: 8 GB

Recommended “Rambo” requirements:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7 4790 4 GHz
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 8 GB
  • RAM: 16 GB

This probably means the PC version does not come with all of the knick-knacks of console.

As for the requirements, I have ... split opinions.

On one side, I would expect that a game optimized for console would have more demanding requirements for PC. Developing the same game twice, optimizing for both platforms, would be ... well, not really practical. So it was developped for consoles and then patched up to run on PC.

On the other side, I´d think such steep requirements (not "deadly", the OP is right about that, but definetly "steep") will alienate a sizeable portion of the PC-Gaming-Market. Not really sure THAT is wise.

But hey, what do I know, right? I just buy games and run them on my PC. I´m even so lazy, I don´t search for cracked versions on the net, and plain and simple buy them on steam or such ...
