Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Update Introduces Microtransactions

  • 160

The latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered update has introduced microtransactions, adding paid options not included in the original release.

Supply drops--random loot drops first introduced in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare--return, and are purchasable with Depot Credits, which can be earned in game, or Call of Duty Points, which are bought using real money. Supply drops only contain cosmetic items, like new weapon camos, different reticles, and new character skins. The same items can all be earned by completing in-game challenges, for those who don't want to fork out more cash.

You can also craft the new items using Parts, Modern Warfare Remastered's version of Salvage from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Lastly, a bunch of new melee weapons can be purchased, like a shovel or hammer. The existence of these melee weapons, as well as the potential for microtransactions, had previously been leaked.

The old school CoDs were some of my favorite games of all time (Cod1/2,WaW,MW1) but the last 5 years or so I wouldnt play one even if you bought it for me.  Activision really needs to rethink their whole approach imo.

I've played some of the last 5, but nowhere near as fun as first 5.

Interstellar

"Hey man, CoD Infinite Warfare is the most innovative game ever, it introduces so many new game mechanics and the story is on par with the Witcher 3."

"You know what would make such an amazing game even better?"

"Microtransactions!"

"Finally!"

Resident Metal Head

Oh lord... Can they bring down the franchise any further? I was actually hoping to eventually play MW Remastered, it was the last CoD I truly enjoyed and spent hundreds of hours on... But no way in hell I'm going to bother if they add microtransactions.

i recently bought Titanfall2 and am having a ton of fun playing the game and all future DLC are free.  If you like CoD shooting mechanics its really an amazing game.
