Bandai Namco on Dark Souls PC remaster: 'There is no discount'

  • 23

Despite what you might have heard online yesterday, it appears owners of the original Dark Souls will not be in-line for a 50 percent discount of Dark Souls: Remastered via Steam.

That's according to a spokesperson from publisher Bandai Namco who, when asked about the possibility of reduced rates for existing PC players, said: "I have been told it is the same price for all platforms. There is no discount."

Another theory doing the rounds yesterday suggested the Dark Souls remaster will employ Dark Souls 3's engine. Prominent Souls commentator VaatiVidya appeared to refute the idea with this tweet last night, whereas Bandai Namco informed me it "[couldn't] shed light on the other question" in reference to my own engine-related queries.

Discount or not, Dark Souls: Remastered is due on PC on May 25, 2018.

Well, at least it's $40 USD rather than $60 (which it would still be totally worth it if it was anyway, IMO). Still definitely gonna grab it anyway. :D

I think I'll probably get it on Nintendo Switch. What about you guys?

What no free upgrade ? I am not gonna paid for 3rd time this one ! Got it for PC and PS3 so GTFO !

Planetary

Well then we'll just have to wait for the next big steam sale.

Interstellar

Guess I'll be waiting for a Steam sale to get it.

I want it but no way will I fork out full price for remake of a game I already own. On Pc in the past with Steam we have gotten free HD remakes for several games such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, Titan Quest Anniversary Edition, and Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition just to name a few.

They could at least give a discount to owners of the original.
